Norda, Inc. - Alternative Certification & Professional Development for Teachers and Administrators

Norda is a Norwegian word meaning "from the north."

Norda, Inc. provides programs for prospective and practicing teachers and education administrators to help them achieve professional goals and better serve the students of Wisconsin. Those programs include certification programs for new teachers and administrators and mentoring and professional development for practicing teachers and administrators. Staff

John Eitenmiller John teaches Project Teaching courses. He currently serves as District Administrator for the Greenwood School District. He holds an Ed.D. degree in Adult Education from the University of Arkansas, with a Specialist Degree in Educational Administration. He has eight years of experience in K-12 administration, including four years as Program Coordinator for Gifted and Talented. He has coordinated Graduate Credit Outreach programs for Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota for the past ten years, specifically with their Master of Education program and has taught teacher training courses for University of Wisconsin–Superior, University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, Mount Senario College, and the University of Arkansas.

Tom Hall Tom is co-director of 10SPED. He holds a master’s degree in School Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. For 21 years, he served as the special services director for the Rice Lake Area School District. He has taught graduate coursework in behavior management at the University of Wisconsin–Stout. Recently, he has been appointed by Wisconsin Governor James Doyle to sit on the State Taskforce on Excellence in Education.

Jesse Jackson Dr. Jackson teaches 10SPED courses. He has been working in education for ten years starting as a school psychologist then as the director of special education and pupil services and K-12 school psychologist for the Phillips School District working into his current position as the Director of Student Services for the Marshfield School District. In 1995, he received his undergraduate degree in psychology (with a minor in construction - he has ten years of experience as a carpenter). He received his master's and certification in school psychology in 1997 and began working with CESA #9 as a school psychologist and special education coordinator for Elcho and Phillips. In 1999 he moved to Phillips as the K-12 school psychologist and middle school counselor. As of July 2005, Jesse accepted the role of director of student services for Marshfield School District. A father of 2 with one on the way, he is currently progressively leading special education and student services in the Marshfield School District.

Steve Japuntich Steve is co-director of 10SPED. Steve holds a master’s degree in school psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Superior. He has served as the director of pupil services and school psychologist for the School Districts of Phillips for fifteen years and Winter for seven years. He has also served as a school psychologist for CESA 12 and the Drummond and Winter School Districts for a total of nine years. He has taught courses in psychology and sociology at the University of Wisconsin–Superior.

Kurt Lindau Kurt teaches 10SPED courses. He taught students with cognitive disabilities and was an assistant principal at Ladysmith High School and principal at Hawkins Elementary School. He is currently director of special education for the Ladysmith-Hawkins School District and principal at Ladysmith Middle School. The Ladysmith Middle School was a New Wisconsin Promise School in 2003, 2004, and 2006. The Ladysmith Middle School was also awarded the Governor’s School Health award in 2007. He has a bachelor's degree in vocational rehabilitation/special education from UW Stout and a Masters of Educational Administration at University of Wisconsin–Superior. He licensed as a special education teacher, principal, and director of special education. Kurt is certified as a Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Instructor by the Crisis Prevention Institute. Special interests include school safety and prevention. He is currently working on his certification to become a Superintendent.

Alan Lindau Al teaches 10SPED courses. He holds Masters degrees in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University and Special Education-EBD from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Al has served the Janesville School District as a Special Education Program Support Teacher for eight years and has taught students with Emotional Behavioral Disabilities for eight years at the middle and high school levels. Beginning in the 2007-2008 school year, Al’s position will be Dean of Students and Special Education Support for two newly developed charter schools. CRES (Community-Recovery-Education-Service) Academy (an ATODA recovery school) and TAGOS Leadership Academy (a project-based and service learning school).

Linda Maitrejean Linda teaches 10SPED courses. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Learning Disabilities (LD) and Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire; a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Superior; and additional certification in Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities (EBD) from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. She is currently finishing her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership through Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Linda has taught special education in the areas of EBD and LD for twelve years and has worked in special education administration for six years. She is employed by CESA #11 and serves as the Director of the Wisconsin Statewide Transition Initiative. Linda is also an active member in the National Community of Practice on Transition.

Patricia J. Mattek Pat is currently a field supervisor for Project Teaching and WISCAD candidates and teaches courses for Project Teaching.  She holds two masters degrees and did doctoral work at Marquette University, is a retired public school administrator. Pat taught for 20 years in the School of Education, Marquette University, served as an adjunct instructor with Alverno College, Cardinal Stritch University, Silver Lake College and Lakeland College, taught staff development courses for CESA #1 and served on WDPI curriculum committees.  Pat’s administrative experience of 16 years was as a K-12 principal, director of instruction and acting superintendent.  Most recently she served as the principal with North Lakeland K-8 School District and for eight years with the MIlwaukee Public Schools.

Sue Scheer Sue Scheer Sue teaches 10SPED courses. She holds a bachelor's degree in child psychology from the University of Minnesota , a master's degree in school psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and received licensure in special education administration from the University of Wisconsin-Superior . Sue has more than twenty years experience as a school psychologist, special education supervisor, and director of special education in the Drummond, West De Pere, Medford, Sheboygan, and Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan (Minnesota) School Districts.

Jolie Steinke Jolie is our 10SPED Field Placement Officer and supervises student teachers. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders from UW-Madison, and master’s degree in speech-language pathology from UW-Eau Claire. Jolie worked as a speech-language pathologist in the School District of Holmen for seven years. She provided speech and language services to children in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Jolie has worked with children who have had a variety of special education needs including autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and cognitive disabilities.

Mark Stensvold Mark is our certifying officer, handles admissions for Project Teaching, and supervises student teachers. While teacher education department chair at Mount Senario College, Mark helped to develop Project Teaching He has experience since 1989 as a teacher educator at public and private colleges in Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. His doctorate in Science Education is from the University of Iowa. Mark’s K-12 teaching experience was as a middle school science teacher in Random Lake, Wisconsin. He has authored and directed educational grants for more than one million dollars and published several scholarly articles on teaching and learning. Mark has taught hundreds of adults in undergraduate and graduate education programs. He has developed and directed undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Carol Williamson Carol is our 10SPED Administrator. She comes to us from a career in chamber of commerce and other non-profit management. She is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber Institute of Organization Management.  Carol served as the executive director of the Chamber of Commerce in Hayward, Portage, and Black River Falls. She also acted as the Qualification Based Selection Facilitator for AIA Wisconsin and as such worked with school districts and other public entities in the design professional selection process. Carol served on the Hayward school board for six years.

Karen Zenkowich Karen is the Project Teaching program assistant. She has 35 years of experience in various office positions working with computer data and organizing paper trails. The last eight years before coming to Norda included using AutoCad software to convert architectural drawings into shop drawings for architect approval, assisting with plant order writing, and working with customers to ensure order accuracy.
